LONDON, U.K. September 7, 2022 – FARFETCH Limited (NYSE: FTCH), the global destination for modern luxury, today announces the third release from FARFETCH BEAT, the new concept retail series that introduces exclusive product experiences to an international audience.

For BEAT 003, FARFETCH has partnered with Tekla to produce a limited number of bespoke sleepwear sets inspired by Trisha Brown’s 1971 “Roof Piece”. The performance saw dancers scattered across the roofs of SoHo, New York, where they played a dance version of the game telephone, all dressed in a burning red.

Each of the special edition sleepwear sets is embroidered with a commemorative message and includes a reproduction of an archival poster announcing the 1973 performances of “Roof Piece” . The 25 limited sets are available only on FARFETCH.

With so much dance proliferating online now, model and actress, Lily McMenamy has reinterpreted the “Roof Piece” for TikTok, which felt like an honest modern interpretation of the original ethos. Movement Director, Jaime Scott from Trisha Brown Dance Company guided Lily as she reimagined the performance. Communication across distance is the essential essence of this dance. The work is both simple and radical – much like Tekla.

Ronojoy Dam, Global Director, Brand & Culture, FARFETCH said:
“We have been fans of Tekla for a very long time and are delighted to launch this special limited edition together as part of our BEAT series. Each BEAT release has been informed by very organic conversations and we’re honoured that this one brings the influence and inspiration of Trisha Brown Dance Company into a new environment and context with Tekla.”

In addition to the bespoke collection, Tekla has produced a limited number of classic poplin sleepwear and percale bedding in a striking new Red colourway inspired by the original costumes of the 1971 performance. Included are long-sleeved and short-sleeved shirts, pants, shorts, duvet covers, pillow shams and sheets which are available on Farfetch.com and Teklafabrics.com.

The sleepwear is cut with a unisex, oversized fit, made from crisp, lightweight cotton that sits gently on the body. The roomy fit allows for freedom of movement, expressed by the dancers who will wear sleepwear sets through the performance. Bedding, woven with a 200 thread count and lightly stonewashed for a crisp, soft finish, will act as a starting point, with Lily McMenamy awakening from a red bed placed on a rooftop.

All products in the collection are made from 100% organic cotton.

Anne Boissonnault, Archive Director, Trisha Brown Dance Company said:

"Roof Piece (1971) is about the transmission of movement over distance and through time. It’s so exciting to see Trisha’s iconic work, reimagined for fashion, still rippling through our collective consciousness."

The collection will be available on 7 September 2022, 9am CET/8am GMT, exclusively on FARFETCH and teklafabrics.com

The limited sleepwear sets are priced at €350/£300/$390. Single sets start from125/£110/$140 and doubles start from215/£180/$235.

Stay tuned for the next ad-hoc release via FARFETCH BEAT…
